About Chestnut Oak Farm
Chestnut Oak Farm is a small horse farm located in Winchester, VA. Our main focus is on training young horses into the sport of eventing. We also compete our horses in the jumpers, dressage, combined training, and do some foxhunting. Chestnut Oak is owned by Kathy McHale. Training and care are done by her daughter Bridgette and the maintenance by Bridgette's handy husband Steve .
Bridgette started riding when she was 11 years old and was hooked in no time. Her first horse, Foxy, was a Thoroughbred gelding, recently retired from foxhunting. He quickly taught her the true meaning of a gallop! A few Thoroughbreds later, Bridgette found her first event horse, Savannah. Together they learned the ropes of eventing and pony club. After a fun five year partnership, Savannah was retired to Bridgette's mother, Kathy, who loved the "go" that Savannah provided until her final days. Trainer Maggie Smith got Bridgette into training and breaking young horses. This is now her passion and she has successfully brought multiple horses into the jumping world.
